Family of 3

So our family of 2 became a family of 3 this past Easter Sunday. On April 5th, 2015 at 8:06pm we welcomed to this world a baby girl that weighted 7lbs. 2.5oz. and was 21 inches long!

We decided to name her Rylie June. Other nicknames we currently are using for her include: Miss Rylie, Ry, baby girl (mostly me – still can’t believe we have a baby – and it’s a girl!), baby burrito (due to swaddling), goofball, and little peanut. I’m sure more will come/be created as time goes on. Depending on her actions we also call her “squirmy wormy”, “squeaks” and “toot-y baby” right now (I’m sure those will change and evolve!)

She shares her birthday with her new Aunt Stacey (my sister), as well as her Great Aunt Judy (my dad’s sister). So she has 2 family “Birthday buddies”.

We decided we wanted to take some photos of her while she was still just a little peanut, so we made an appointment with Chelsie Renae. She is my bosses cousin and I had the chance to use one of her newborn photos in 2011 to design an ad for SentrySafe – as seen here in her blog.

It was about a 45 minute drive for us, the furthest we had traveled with Rylie so far. The tough part was on the way there we were trying to keep her awake! We were about half successful in that but thankfully she slept through her photos like a champ – and let Chelsie pose her however she wanted/needed to.

It was really cool to see her studio. She had 4 or 5 stations set up with some props, outfits and hat/headband options. I’m glad she had this stuff, I emailed her a few times, since we didn’t know she was a girl, we didn’t/don’t have “girly” newborn things, like headbands and such. The few things we have been gifted more recently are typically for when she’s a bit bigger! It was also a nice and warm 80 degrees in there, to help promote sleepy babies. I fed her when we arrived and she fell asleep soon after. Surprisingly, she slept the whole time (close to 3 hours) and as a bonus she didn’t pee or poop on any of Chelsie’s props (Super bonus for Chelsie)!

I am having a hard time picking my favorite(s) at the moment – there are so many cute pictures!

When I have a chance (ie. When Rylie is napping and I am not tired) I am trying to design her birth announcements using one or a few of these adorable photos. Hoping to have those finished and in the mail before I head back to work!

Here are a few sample photos from that day (April 18th, when Rylie was 11 days old) – I’m hoping Mark can help me just pick a FEW:CRP_2255
