I wanted to attend Rochester’s Homearama this year, the first one we have had since 2011.
We ended up going with my parents, and Marks parents – so 6 of us total. It was a rainy Sunday, off and on – which meant muddy shoes and legs and lots of little booties over our shoes just to walk around the houses.
There were 7 houses total. I had a clear favorite from the looks of the exterior. See top featured image, I love the craftsman look of this with the different textures – stone, wood and the deep blue (color!).
I was hoping to really get inspired by color and ideas for our new house. The color portion fell a little short for me – lots and lots of neutrals – beiges and grey’s. (I’m not against neutrals – but I really like color as well!) The main areas of color were in the kids bedrooms – usually designed with a theme in mind.
So the following photos are some of my favorite pieces from Homearama 2014.
It appears I took a lot of photos of different light fixtures (I think this is just a thing in general for me – I tend to notice them when I go places – and often take photos…). Here are the one’s that I liked best.
This room was a kids bedroom but I liked the two toned stripes on the wall (even though they are neutral) and I just love the octopus!
I liked the color combinations in this room – the blues, grays, tans, and some greens. There was an accent wall with a faux finish that I wasn’t a fan of (and I didn’t take a photo of it…).
I liked the herringbone wood tile in this master bath as well as this tub.
And I liked the built-ins around the fireplace in this photo.
Mark and I really liked this large stainless steel apron sink and we got nerdy about the radio/technology features that a few of these houses had. (Sorry the pic is a bit blurry).
I also really like the idea of this type of sliding barn door. I may even have a thought of where something like this could work in our house. (This was featured in a few houses).
And sooner or later (most likely later) I would like to get an organizer for our closet and turn our long bar into more functioning/usable space.
I also really want a big L-shape sectional and this one looked pretty comfortable.
After walking through all seven new houses – I’m still not sure which floor plan that I actually like best. I remembered back to the last one that I went to – clearly liking one floor plan best. Not sure if I would pick any of them as exactly as they were… But obviously I found some things that I liked and that will hopefully inspire me to make some more decisions for our house!
The event goes through this weekend in Rochester – so check it out if you are in town!
